Convenience is King, Right?
Unfortunately, the trend towards fast food and the poor health that seems to accompany it is significant. Not only is the food itself - pizza, burgers, donuts, deep-fried anything - seriously lacking in nutrition, it’s cheap and easy to over-consume. Health experts point to the many facets of a fast food diet as a major cause of the dramatic rise in obesity, diabetes, and heart disease over the last 30 years.
We all know that it would be better to be cooking for ourselves with fresh ingredients. But the reality is that most of us lead lives that don’t leave much time for hours spent in the kitchen preparing healthy meals from scratch. So how can we find a way to eat healthy without sacrificing time out of our busy schedules?
Well, it turns out there are quite a few ways..
First, cooking doesn’t have to be time-consuming! More and more, chefs are developing recipes for meals that can be assembled in 20 minutes or less. Here are a few recipes and blogs we rely on for great new ideas:

Advance preparation can also be key. The meal prep craze that’s sweeping across Instagram may be excessive, but a little planning the day or night before and 5 minutes of prep could save you hours! Check out a few of our favorite ideas and strategies:

If you don’t think you have time to go grocery shopping, or the idea of coming up with your own meal plans is stressful, consider home-delivery programs like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron. These companies will send you a recipe card plus all the ingredients you need to make that recipe, often sourced locally and/or seasonally. We’ve heard rave reviews!
(If you like this idea but want a little more freedom, consider joining a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) - you’ll pay for the season and then receive produce from farms in your area. It’s a really great way to eat local and seasonal, and support small-scale farmers.)
